Jonathon has been teaching Drama and English for 36 years and, in that time, has qualified as an Advanced Skills Teacher and Outstanding Teacher. He believes that learning should be taught through challenge and enjoyment. Students will be asked to complete work both in tutoring sessions and, as appropriate, for homework.

Gary is an Associate Tutor in Primary Education and Link Tutor at Edge Hill University. He has also been a private tutor since 2014 and has extensive teaching experience across both primary and secondary education, including teaching overseas.
His previous roles include Deputy Headteacher, Headteacher and Head of Science, and he has gained the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).
Gary can support pupils across the primary curriculum and 11+ preparation. At secondary level, he can tutor Maths, English Language and Literature, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology and Art, with a range of subjects available through to GCSE and A Level.

Rachael is a qualified secondary Geography teacher with a Geography BSc (Hons) and a PGCE in Secondary Geography with QTS from Edge Hill University. She currently teaches Geography and Travel & Tourism and has experience teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Her specialist subject is Geography, including physical and human geography, environmental issues, development, hazards, climate, sustainability and GCSE content. She also has a strong interest in the
wider humanities and can support pupils with History, ReligiousEducation and literacy, as well as reading, writing, comprehension and extended-answer skills.
Rachael’s teaching approach is centred on inclusion, confidence and helping every learner make progress. She adapts lessons carefully to meet different needs and abilities, using clear explanations, scaffolding, modelling, retrieval practice, visual resources, sentence starters and structured questioning. She aims to create a calm and encouraging environment where pupils feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing greater independence.
Alongside Geography, Rachael can offer Primary English, RE, Geography, History and Science; 11+ literacy; KS3 Geography, History, RE and literacy; GCSE Geography and BTEC Travel & Tourism; A Level Geography;
and support with BTEC Travel & Tourism and Hospitality.
She has a particular interest in physical geography, environmental science, sustainability, climate change, hazards, ecosystems, development and global issues. Her professional background in energy
and sustainability also allows her to bring real-world examples into her teaching and make learning relevant and engaging.
Rachael offers online tuition, lessons at her home and tuition at the family’s home within an agreed travelling distance. She is also particularly interested in supporting home-educated pupils during the
school day.
