Alyson - Secondary Science - Ormskirk

Alyson graduated from Edge Hill University in 1998 with a BSc (Hons) Degree in Field Biology and Habitat Management and went on to gain her Postgraduate Certification in Education (PGCE) in Secondary Science in 1999. She can teach Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 in  Science and Key Stage 5 in Biology.

Martyn - Maths and Science Tutor - Burscough

Martyn is a graduate of the University of Cambridge with a degree in Biological Natural Sciences. He is a qualified teacher of Mathematics and has recently worked in this role at a large secondary school. His recent experience of secondary Mathematics teaching means that he has an excellent knowledge of the Mathematics curriculum from Key Stage 3 through to A-Level, with a particularly detailed knowledge of the AQA and Edexcel exam boards. Martyn's exemplary academic background in the sciences  also enables him to tutor Biology and Chemistry up to A-Level and Science up to GCSE. In his most recent school, he has worked with students throughout the entire secondary age range, providing engaging and motivating lessons. Prior to his teacher training, Martyn also worked as a Teaching Assistant for 2 years, where his main duties were providing support for students on the autistic spectrum, hence having experience of working with students with special educational needs.

Gareth has a degree in Applied Physics and Electronics from Durham University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Physics and Mathematics.  He has over 25 years' experience in Physics, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Computing, Chemistry and Electronics. He also worked for 3 years as an electronics engineer as well as having experience of marking Physics A level. Gareth can tutor Physics, Computer Science and Electronics at both GCSE and A level.

After graduating from university in Biology and Psychology, Lindsay initially wanted to be an educational psychologist, but she began teaching in 2000 and has never left the classroom. She has taught Science to GCSE level for twenty years working in a range of schools. She has worked as a science teacher, head of science and assistant head teacher before deciding that she missed being in the classroom and the interaction with students too much and so now works as a lead practitioner in science. She supports trainee teachers and works with teachers in other departments supporting them to be outstanding teachers. Lindsay is passionate about teaching Science especially Biology, believing that every child can achieve if they are supported in exam practice. She is an exam marker for AQA Chemistry triple higher paper and Edexcel Biology foundation and higher tier and was also an exam marker for OCR for a number years. Lindsay can tutor Science to Key Stages 3 and 4.

He has been an International Biology Olympiad (NZ) examination writer and a lecturer at Unitec, Auckland on the Step-Up program for senior Biology for his last two years in NZ, covering both Years 12 and 13 NCEA Biology. Mariyana is able to teach Chemistry and Mathematics from secondary (GCSE) to A level. Philip - Maths, English & Science Tutor - Chorley

Philip trained as a Secondary Science Teacher at Edge Hill University after having spent 7 years working at Runshaw College as a technician and gaining experience in lecturing Electronics in evening school classes. After qualification in1996, he worked for almost 12 years in a primary school teaching a mixed Years 4/5 class. He then began working as a supply teacher for Lancashire Teaching. From September 2006, he worked in Secondary Pupil Referral Units until retirement in August 2017. Since then, Philip has worked for almost 2 years at Pearson VUE, a provider of computer-based tests. He has also worked informally on an independent school start-up from August 2020 until November 2020. Recently, he has tutored on a 1-1 basis on behalf of Connex Education. Philip can tutor Mathematics, Science and English at both primary and secondary levels.
